Each subject combines the two using its published weighting - 50/50 on many exams, 40/60 on AP history, 67/33 on AP Psychology.

Is an AP score calculator accurate?
A subject-specific calculator that uses that exam's real section weighting is accurate to its model - but no tool can know the official post-exam curve in advance, so treat any number as an estimate. This site publishes the exact formula, weights, and cutoffs behind every prediction.
Is there a guessing penalty on AP exams?
No. Wrong answers count exactly the same as blanks on every AP exam, so you should answer every multiple-choice question even if you have to guess.
What is a passing AP score?
A 3. About 60% of AP scores nationally are 3 or higher, but that varies a lot by subject - see the pass-rates page for real numbers.
Does AP credit transfer to college?
Most colleges award credit or placement for scores of 3-5, but every school sets its own policy. Check your target school's policy with the credit guide.
